JEWELRY CARE
As with the case of anything beautiful, jewelry must be cared to maintain maximum hygiene and aesthetic.
Here are three simple rules to keep your jewelry looking as beautiful as the day you blissfully received them.
Rule #1: Take it off
Showering
Avoid wearing jewelry while in the shower. Soap seeps into small openings, creating a buildup of film which reduces the luster of diamonds and detracting from the overall beauty of your jewelry.
Swimming
Chlorinated and salt water may cause structural changes in gold alloys due to corrosion over time. To avoid any future problems we recommend that you take your jewelry off before going in for a dip at the pool or at the beach.
Applying Cosmetics
Wear your jewelry after you have applied beauty products as various chemicals in cosmetic, fragrance, and hairspray products may damage your jewelry.
Exercising and Manual Labor
Though 18 karat gold is durable, with constant use in harsh environments, your jewelry will experience eventual wear and tear. To avoid this, it is best to take off jewelry before physical tasks to avoid accidental scratches, abrasions and bumps on hard surfaces.
Rule #2: Keep it clean
Bleach
Never use anything that contains bleach as this may cause structural problems in gold.
Ultrasonic cleaning
Never use ultrasonic cleaning to clean your jewelry as this may cause stress fractures in many gemstones.
Damaged Jewelry
If you suspect that your jewelry is damaged, avoid attempts at cleaning as it may further damage your jewelry.
Polishing Cloth
Use a polishing cloth when cleaning your jewelry as other materials may scratch the very susceptible surfaces of gemstones.
Cleaning Gold
For optimal shine, we only recommend re-polishing your gold jewelry by sending it back to us. We provide this service for free to customers who have created an account with us. Please contact our customer service team for more details.
Rule #3: Safe Storage
RoCHIC Jewelry Boxes
For every piece of jewelry you purchase from us, we provide a cozy home in the form of our exclusive RoCHIC jewelry boxes.
Alternative Storage
Storing your jewelry in bulk exposes your jewelry to possible bumps and abrasion from other items. We recommended storing jewelry separately.
